How To Really Increase Your Blog Traffic Using Instagram

Instagram is such a great platform to use to grow your blog. Now that anyone can utilize the link feature on Instagram stories, you can increase your blog traffic by linking your posts. On top of that, you can also utilize your website link in your bio. Keep in mind that you can only use one link in your bio though, so in this post, I’m going to explain how you can really increase your blog traffic using Instagram.

What if last week, you posted about a shop and mentioned that the link to the shop is in your bio. However, you posted yesterday of your new Youtube video, so the link in your bio now is not the shop that the user was expecting to see. That’s a bummer. Fortunately, that’s why there are third party sites to help prevent this from happening.

how to increase your blog traffic using Instagram

Using a third party site

So many people that I know use third party sites to organize their links into one link, such as: Linktr.ee, Lynx, Tap.bio, Campfire, and more. These websites essentially help you create one link that you can put in your Instagram bio’s website link, and that link will have a list of other links to whatever you want — your blog posts, your businesses, other social media pages, etcetera.

It’s very convenient and simple to set up. Most of them are also free, or have very affordable prices per month. However, using these third party sites are unnecessary when you can easily create your own landing page (on your blog) to drive more traffic to your blog.

Instead of clicking on the third party link, a person viewing your Instagram can click on your website link that directs them to a landing page on your blog. Bam, you just gained a page view on your blog. The landing page can feature your custom links, which is honestly worth taking the time to make. Imagine all of the page views that you are missing out on because of the third party site you were using.

How to set up your landing page to increase blog traffic

Setting up a landing page is pretty easy, depending on how creative and artsy you want to get, and it’s not so time consuming! I would say give yourself an hour or two to set it up, and it will be worth it because it’s easy maintenance afterwards.

1. Create a new page

Create a NEW PAGE, not to be confused with a new post, and give it a title. I used “Instagram Links”, but you can use whatever title you prefer. The title isn’t too important since it’s mainly to be used for your Instagram bio website link.

2. Create the “buttons” for your links

There are so many different websites and software programs that you can use to create your buttons. I used Canva (a free website!), created a new design, with the dimensions: 800px by 100px. Now you can get as creative as you’d like!

Click on “Create a design”, and on “Custom dimensions”
The dimensions I use are 800px by 100px (width by height)
You can use whatever color you want and add text. Get creative!

Tip: Keep things consistent by using similar fonts and color schemes across your blog, Pinterest pins, and any other social media platforms.

3. Upload your buttons and add links

After you have created and saved your buttons, upload them to your website onto the page. I use WordPress, so I upload the images and add the corresponding link to each one of them. To add the link to the image, click on the link icon to “insert link”, and insert the URL.

After you’ve uploaded the button image to your page, add a link to it.
I use WordPress, so I hover over the link icon and type in the respective URL

You can also move your buttons around to custom the order you want them to be in. I included my recent blog posts and social media pages to start off on my landing page.

4. Publish your landing page

Once you’re satisfied with your landing page, go ahead and publish! Then, copy + paste the link to your Instagram bio website link, and voila. Your own Instagram landing page. Over time, you can easily update the buttons by switching out links, rearranging the order, adding in new links, etc. The possibilities are endless!

And there you go! I hope this helps bring more traffic to your blog as it has for me. If you’re looking for more influencer tips, check out my other blog posts here and comment below if you have any questions! You can also subscribe to my email list for free social media tips twice a week.

I was always frustrated when I had to keep changing my IG bio link. It wasn’t because I was lazy but I couldn’t do more than one link at a time. This is such a great way to bypass that one link only feature and definitely going to try it out and see how far I get! Happy Wednesday.
